It’s Day 8 of my Whole30 journey! I’m excited to say I’m starting to feel like I am in a routine and things are getting much easier.
As I sit down to drink my morning bone broth, I open the Whole30 Day By Day Melissa wrote about how people tend to put their guards down in week two and suggested we think ahead and plan accordingly.
She gives us a great question to ask when we are experiencing a craving…….
“Am I really hungry or am I just angry, lonely, or tired…or anxious, bored, frustrated, in pain…” – Melissa Hartwig, Whole30 Author
This question is interesting to me and honestly not something I’ve ever thought about. I am going to try journaling about it for the next few days and see what bubbles up!
I feel good, not great, but good. My mood is good for the most part, except for when it’s not. This AM, Taylor, my teenage daughter was playing her music so loud I couldn’t concentrate on my writing and I seriously contemplated knocking her door down and let’s just say I hurt my shoulder knocking on her door – I’m going to call that a Whole30 moment.
I had a fun, delicious little breakfast called Monkey Bowl with two pieces of leftover Cashew- Crusted Chicken from the Whole30 Fast & Easy Cookbook.
After my yoga class, I stopped at the grocery store to get a few Whole30 essentials. Wow! Do I hate searching for healthy Whole30 compliant food in a grocery store filled with processed and sugar-laden foods? I’m glad I followed up on the to-do item I told you about in My Whole30 Experience (Day 6) and signed up with ThriveMarket. They are an online grocer that carries a ton of Whole30 compliant food. In fact, when you go to their website you can click on Whole30 and all of the compliant foods are listed! Oh and the best thing is they have great prices. In most cases, they are 25-50% less than retail! I was so excited about Thrive Market, I emailed them and told them I was a blogger and they offered a 25% discount to anyone who orders from my link – Thrive.Market.com/Tanya
And everyone who orders from Thrive Market this month will be entered in a drawing to win my favorite Whole30 foods!
I finally sat down to lunch around 3:30. We had freshly made Cashew Crusted Chicken from the Whole30 Fast & Easy Cookbook and a vegetable medley.
It’s just about time to start getting ready for a party we are invited to tonight and I am a little nervous. I know I told you about my party girl ways in How Can I Resist You. The party host and hostess are very fun and love to pour tall verbose cocktails. Tony woke me up the morning after their last party suggesting I write them a letter of apology for all my shenanigans?. Not drinking isn’t going to be easy and I wonder what they’ll think of Sober Whole30 Tanya? I’m also nervous about the food part too. They are having a brewery cater the event and I think this means there will be breaded bar food. Ugh. I decided to carry in a DNX bar. If I get hungry, I’ll just slip away to the bathroom and eat it. This is going to be an interesting night!
I made it home from the cocktail party unscathed. I had one sparkling water and a lot of tomatoes and carrots from the veggie tray. To my surprise, no one really seemed to notice or care that I wasn’t drinking.
