I wake up around 6:00 AM naturally and the first thing that comes to mind is it is Day 4 of the Whole30. Then, I realized I didn’t have a headache and felt ok!
I went downstairs and made my daily bone broth and chugged a glass of water. I remember my brainstorm from yesterday in My Whole30 Experience Day 3! and wish I had cut veggies and chicken to put in it, but I didn’t. Yesterday was a crazy day and I just didn’t get to it. The inner Superfreak starts to surface, but somehow I decided to give myself grace and let it go for today.
I sit at my desk and open the Whole30 Day by Day ironically the book naturally opens to page 33 with a community inspiration quote from someone who learned after five Whole30s to give themselves some grace in the first few days and to snack, nap, or goes to bed early when needed.
The Whole30 Day by Day says that today is a KATT: Kill All the Things day. I’ve been up for an hour and a 1/2 and haven’t felt like this yet, so I’m going to remain helpful that I skip this one!
As I reopen the book to read more about the Whole30 Day 4, my mind drifts and I am in disbelief that I am doing this now.
I can hear my fifteen-year-old Daughter and Whole30 partner upstairs coughing. She has been sick for three weeks. We have taken her to the doctor, she has taken antibiotics, and I’ve been giving her every holistic remedy I know of.
My Son, Drew, is upstairs sleeping even though we should have left for school over thirty minutes ago. He is emotionally exhausted from a really tough day yesterday and I started emailing his therapists and counselors around 6:15 this AM hoping for some help.
It’s simple, I’m doing this because I am taking The Best Advice Anyone Ever Gave Me. If eating crappy food and not taking care of myself would make my Daughter healthy or take away my Son’s Autism I would have done it a long time ago. Truth be known me not taking care of myself won’t help them and may make matters worse for them since I won’t be able to give them my best self.
Around 8:00 AM I warmed up my new favorite Chicken Pot Pie Soup for my Daughter and me.
And then I decided to make myself a little treat….
Funny thing is within minutes I realized the strawberries I ate as a treat didn’t agree with my stomach. This is very interesting because I don’t typically have issues digesting most foods and never get an instantaneous response like this. I took a Whole30 approved digestive enzyme and am hoping for the best!
Around 10:30 I felt a wave of the hangover come over me. Snap, just when I thought I escaped it. I thought since I had already done my time on the high protein low carb diet for the last six months and went through a brutal round of the keto flu, I should get a hall pass. Ugh – I guess not!
I have a confession to make. I went to the weight loss clinic today and got a vitamin B shot. Seems kind of crazy to be going to a weight loss clinic when you are doing the Whole30 doesn’t it? I just love those shots and I told you about my vitamin B deficiency in The Weight Loss Story Begins. I’m hoping the Whole30 improves my gut health and I no longer need the shots but for now, I’ll be that girl on the Whole30 going to the high protein low carb weight loss clinic.
My Son, Drew, and I went to lunch today and I took Melissa Hartwig’s advice and ate as many eggs as I could……
Around 2:30 I still needed a nap and feel like today could be titled, “I got by with a little help from my nap”.
For dinner, I had zucchini noodles and spaghetti sauce. I have to be honest, I really wanted to put some cheese on that!
I also had one of my favorite new found treats – apples and almond butter.
And at 8:00 I checked the box in my Whole30 Day By Day journal and turned in for the night with visions of the state of Tiger Blood dancing in my head! Oh, I can’t wait to lose those nasty food cravings, have tons of energy, great works outs, feel invincible and have loose-fitting clothes!
